Catcliffe Board School
There was a small free school, endowed by George Beardsall, in 1702, with £10 per annum.
In 1833 , White's History & Directory of Rotherham lists a William Chapman, as a schoolmaster.A School Board was formed on 18th August, 1875 and after a meeting of parishioners, those elected were:
- Chairman: George Morgan
- Samuel Blunn
- Joseph Ramsbottom Blunn
- Joseph Platts
- James Guest
- Joseph Ramsden Rodgers

The Board School was built in 1876 at a cost of £2500 accommodating 180 children.
The census of 1891 shows staff at the school:
- John Lowe from Misterton, near Bawtry, aged 61, was the Head master who lived on Rotherham Rd.
- Henry Copping, aged 20, was assistant schoolmaster, he was from Frithville in Lincolnshire.
- Ada Green,aged 23, was a school teacher,born in Wadworth, Doncaster.
In 1900, a new school, adjoining this was erected at a cost of £2000 , this catered for 260 children. An endowment of £10 for teaching 10 children was transferred to the School Board.
On 1st April, 1939 Miss Dorothy Deaton Head Teacher of Catcliffe Council Infants School was offered a scholarship by the Chautauqua Institution to visit America for a month or so during 1939
