Catcliffe in 1905
Catcliffe is a small township and village with a station on the Lancashire, Derbyshire and East Coast Railway, in Rotherham Parish.
The iron Mission Church of St. Faith was erected here in 1895 and will seat 250 persons. Services are conducted by the Vicar of St. Georges, Brinsworth.
The Wesleyans have a chapel in the village, built in 1859 at a cost of £450.
The township had 1232 inhabitants in 1901 on 690 acres of land; rateable value £8745. Under the Sheffield Corporation Act of 1900, 14 acres of this township was added to the Borough of Sheffield.
The extension of colliery operations had led to an increase in population.
Post and Money Order Office at Frederick Rodgers. Letters arrive via Rotherham at 7.25 a.m. and 6.05 p.m. and are dispatched at 7.30, 11.00 a.m. and 6 05 and 6.10 p.m. Catcliffe Station is the nearest Telegraph Office.
