16th and 17th Century Treeton
William Holme Rector of Treeton and Whiston, also held the living of Ecclesfield from 1519.
In 1549 John Tyas, Rector at Treeton, also held the living of Ecclesfield where he was buried in October, 1580.
John Jones, was Rector. His daughter Anne married John Machon(d.1640), son of John Machon of Machon Bank and Eleanor, daughter of the Parkers of Meadow Hall, Sheffield. John and Anne's daughter Margery married Thomas Routh
17 Jan 1637: True bill that Henry Earnshaw late of Treeton husbandman and William Radcliffe, late of Treeton, husbandman, on 8 January 13 Charles I unlawfully broke the close of Francis Fane, and the Lady Elizabeth, his wife, at ? Ongliton ? of the said county, and there hunted with a greyhound and killed a doe.
On 21st February, 1680, Cuthbert Browne was instituted as Rector of Treeton. He has been at Handsworth

(1676-7) octave of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary (February 2nd), in the 29th year of Charles II. Final Concord (Lat.) between Robert Sorsbie S.T.P. plaintiff, and Jonathan Staniforth gentleman, Francis Barlow and Katerine his wife and Josua Sheppard deforciants, whereby the latter quitclaimed to the former 4 messuages, 4 cottages, 50 acres of land, 20 acres of meadow, 40 acres of pasture, 40 acres of wood, common of pasture for all animals and pasture for ten plough animals in Catcliffe, Tinsley, Treeton, Brinsforth, Norwood, Hallam, Brightside Byerley and Sheffield, in consideration of £160.
