Matthew Mottram b.1820 at New Orchard was farming at Brampton-en-le-Morthen in 1851. He was married to Mary (b.1819),a widow from Blythe,Notts.Also living with them Mary Scholey, lodger, a widow, aged 78, a landed proprietor born Grindleford, Derbyshire. By 1891 he is retired and a widower.
Robert Mottram b.1824 married Hannah. Their son Arthur Edward b.1867 m.Emily Sophia Bell, daughter of John Thomas Bell of Wickersley. The family were farming in Carr in 1881

On Laughton Road, Laughton-en-le-Morthen, there was a small Hardware store, next to Perrys shop/garage. It is now a bungalow and was recently extended. That shop was owned and run by George Mottram who was great grandson to Richard Mottram (son of Thomas and Ann Shaw). George was born at South Anston in 1923. He lived on Rowena Drive until he died in 1976.
