The Fowler Family
From the 1891 census:
Living at 11 Mill Lane, Treeton were :
William FOWLER,head of the family aged 61. He was a Colliery Labourer, born in Thistleton Rutland,
and his wife Ellen E, Fowler,nee Williamson, aged 63, who was born in Skillington Lincolnshire.
At the time of the census they had one son living with them - William H. Fowler, then aged 26.
William Henry was born on 23rd July, 1864 at Stathern Lodge, Clawson, Leicestershire. He attended St. Johns Grammar School from 1876. He later held Office as Secretary and later as sick visitor of the Pride of the Valley Lodge of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows.
A Colliery Furnace Man and Railway Plate Layer, he married Ada Revill , second child of Thomas Revill and Elizabeth Maxfield on 30th December, 1891, at Treeton. Witnesses at the marriage were Harry Revill, Jane Revill and Thomas Revill.
In 1918 he was living at The Mill, Treeton.
He died aged 78 at 77, Brinsworth Road, Catcliffe, Rotherham and was buried in St. Helen's Churchyard Treeton.
Children of William Fowler and Ada Revill were :
- Dorothy Elizabeth, born on 26th January, 1893 at Treeton.
- Cyril Raymond, born on 17th May 1896, in Barnsley, Yorkshire, died 26th March,1974 in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
- Clarice Ada Fowler , born on the 17th August, 1899 at Midland Road, Royston, Barnsley. She married Fred Dobbs, the son of George Dobbs and Clara,(nee Stockwell), on the 24th December, 1925 at St. George's Church, Brinsworth, Rotherham.She came to live in Catcliffe in 1926. Clarice died on the 15th September, 1949 and was buried at St. Mary's Churchyard, Catcliffe.
- Esme Joyce, born on the 7th November, 1907 at The Mill, Treeton. Married Thomas H. Davies on 24th September, at Cardigan in Wales. She died on 13th January, 2000 in Wales.
Here are some poems extracted from the diary of William Henry Fowler. The first one is called Stormy Wind , and written by Pollie Fowler dated 3rd February, 1884.

This next photo was taken about 1920-1923, possibly Treeton or surrounding area. Clarice Ada Fowler was born in Royston Barnsley in 1899 but lived in Treeton at the Mill Cottages around 1907 where her sister Esme Joyce Fowler was born.
