Horace Cope

Horace Cope was the son
of Job Cope and Althea (nee Smith) of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Notts. He was born in Whiston in 1900. The family moved to
Treeton about 1904 and he worked at Treeton colliery along with his brothers until joining Notts County as a professional.
He joined Notts County in 1920, and played full-back.
He moved to Arsenal in 1926, his first appearance was on 27 December 1926 - League versus Cardiff City, (2–0)
His final Arsenal appearance was on 11 February 1933, - League versus Blackpool, (1–1).
At some stage after retiring, he returned to Treeton where he ran Treeton Working Man's Club, Rotherham, before moving on to run a Public House in Nottingham, where he died in the mid 1970's.
