Haslam’s of Wood Lane
William H. Haslam (Harry, Henry) ,(20/07/70 - 1957) born in Coal Aston, married Clara (nee Bartholomew), a native of Whiston, in 1892 at Whiston. They had 6 children: Cyril, Redvers ,Aldwyn, Beatrice, and Elsie. Sybil died 1898. He commenced work at the age of 12 when he came to Treeton with his parents.After 42 years of Underground working, he continued working in the Property repair shop until he retired at the age of 76. He was a Committee member of the Reading Room FC.
The first photo was taken on the occasion of their 65th Wedding Anniversary.

I can vaguely recollect 'Granny Haslam', she was my great-grandmother. She always wore an apron, and dressed in black! The house was the end terrace on Wood Lane, next to the Methodist Chapel. The house seemed really dark inside and it was kind of scary!
Joseph Haslam was born in 1852. He married Harriet Hill born 1852, both from Coal Aston, Derbyshire. Harriett was the daughter of William(c1828) and Mary(c1835) Hill of Dronfield where she was christened on 6th March, 1853.
The 1881 census states they were living at Coal Aston Village Coal Aston, Derby. Children:
- Henry, aged 10
- Annie aged 8
- Charlotte aged 6
- Edith aged 5
- Thomas aged 3
- Walter aged 5 months
All the children were born in Coal Aston, Derbyshire.
Joseph and Harriet moved to Treeton about 1882 and in 1891 were living at 22 Mill Lane.
