History
The Beighton & District Gas Company
The Beighton & District Gas Company was incorporated under the Companies Act in 1909.
It took over the private undertaking operated by Henry Ellison, a manufacturing chemist.
Its area of supply was the parishes of Beighton, Aston-cum-Aughton, Catcliffe, Treeton and Wales.
The gasworks were in Beighton between the railway station and Rotherham Rd. It was a non-statutory company.
The South Yorkshire and Derbyshire Gas Act 1930 incorporated the South Yorkshire and Derbyshire Gas Company which took over the Beighton undertaking and dissolved, along with five other gas companies, the Beighton DGS.
