During the mid 1400s, Sir Christopher Talbot of Treeton, acknowledged that he and others owed Geoffrey Lowther Esq. £200, on condition of paying £44 yearly, out of the Manors of Handsworth, Bramley, and Attercliffe and lands of Treeton, Harthill and Woodhall. Reference: Hunter's Hallamshire
Sir Christopher Talbot of Treeton, was the son of General John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury ( b. abt 1390-1453) and Maud de Neville, Baroness Furnival's (b. abt 1392-1423) . Although it has been recorded that he died on 10th July 1460, at Northampton, fighting on the Lancastrian side, it would seem that he was killed at Cawce(Cause), in the Westbury, Shropshire, on the 10th August 1443, by his man Griffin Vachan of Treflidian, being struck to the heart and slain with a lance.
