Tinkler
John Tinkler (abt1810) a farm Labourer from Scrooby, Notts, married Rebecca Billam of Waleswood on 24th December, 1832/ 4 at Laughton-en-le-Morthen.Children:
- Ann born 6th October, 1833 at Aston.
- Thomas, born 1837 at Dalton, Rotherham.
- George, born 9th January, 1842.
Notes re Rebekah Bilham: daughter of Anthony Billam (b1770) and Elizabeth (b1774), Christened 15 November 1808/9 Wales, Yorkshire.
Thomas Tinkler (b1837), a Drill Owner was born in Dalton, Rotherham. His wife Hannah E. (b1837) was born in Gleadless, Sheffield. In 1871 they were living at Treeton with children:
- Mary age 9
- Rebecca age 7
- Ann age 5
- George (b 1869) age 2
- Emily aged 9 months
By 1881 Mary and Rebecca had left home and there was an addition to the family:
- Ann aged 15
- George (b 1869) age 12
- Emily aged 10
- John aged 8
All the children were born at Treeton.
George Tinkler (b1842) married Mary (abt 1845) born Catcliffe. In 1881 they were living at Treeton with children:
- Alexander, aged 17, born Attercliffe, Sheffield, a Lamp Cleaner ( Miner)
- Thomas aged 12, born at Rotherwood Lodge, Yorkshire.
- William aged 10, born at Rotherwood Lodge, Yorkshire.
- Sarah A. aged 7, born at Treeton
George, a Coachman, Groom and Gardener was employed for a time at Rotherwood, the home of the Sorby's, the owners of Dore House Colliery.(Margaret Sorby was a widow aged 58 in 1871.)
John Tinkler (b1873), son of Thomas and Hannah Tinkler, married about 1897 to Lilian Norton (b1878) , daughter of Charles and Eunice Norton.
Notes re Lilian Norton: daughter of Alfred Norton, born Broxholme Lincs about 1856, and Eunice, born about 1858 at Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Born at Dewsbury, and in 1881 living at 16 Wood Terrace, Hoyland, Yorkshire. Alfred Norton was possibly the brother of John Norton, under manager at Treeton Colliery.
Children of John and Lilian Tinkler:
- John (1899-1967) married Lilian Liversidge. They had a son Kenneth, born 1824, later a Parish Councillor in Treeton
- Mildred born 1901 married Reginald Taylor. They had a daughter, Betty
