Aughton Hall Farm. Farming this 90 acre farm was Joseph Crapper aged 67 and his wife Mary, aged 51. Also living here was their daughter aged 28, and John Swindles their nephew aged 22 from Chapel-en-le-Frith who was a farm worker.
Wilfred R. Sorby farmed 129 acres at Aughton Hall with the help of two labourers. His wife Louisa aged 26 was from Oulton, Yorkshire. They had three children, Richard, aged 6, Margaret aged 4 and Maud aged 1, all born in Aston.
Norwood's Farm was 230 acres run by John Norwood from Beighton, 30, and his wife Mary, 31, from Wath. He employed 3 labourers and two boys.

The Village blacksmith Charles H. Williamson, 28, was from South Wingfield, his wife Elizabeth, 27, was born in Aston.
Another Blacksmith was Henry Johnson aged 42, his son William aged 17, was his apprentice. Mr. Johnson was also a local Methodist preacher.
