Hi My great grandfather was William De'orsey Gibson, his sisters Alice married Alfred Roddis and Grace married Frank Bolsover. I have several photos of family taken in Sheffield. Some may be of the Roddis and Bolsover families.

If anyone wants further information about the Baugh family, including an extended list of the families of John and Thomas, plus information about their earlier background please get in touch. I am a descendent of John Baugh and have close contact with a descendent of his brother Thomas, who did indeed marry Hannah Morgan in the Forest of Dean.

I'm directly descended from Mary Jane Todd nee Anderson, school mistress at Treeton school in 1871. She is my father's grandmother. I would dearly love to receive any information about her as I have not been able to trace her after her appearance on Treeton's 1871 census folio 99. and living at 1 Church Lane, Treeton.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Thank you

Our great grandmother, MARY WILKINSON, b1860 married a GEORGE MILNES. On the 1901 census for Holmewood, Derbyshire, George was from Saxilby, Lincoln and Mary was from Beighton. With the aid of this website I have found that MARY had a brother SAM. I see from the TV BBC iplayer http://bbc.co.uk/i/qhq84 and the BT phone book that there are still Wilkinsons living in the area. Are there any of my Mary Wilkinson's family left in the area and is there anything remaining in the area (did they leave there mark) that if I were to visit I may see? I am willing to speak about what I know of the family and hopping someone may have information/photos they are willing to share with us.
Thanks for your help and I hope I have been of assistants to you.

My Great Great Grandmother is Jane Robinson (nee Revill), I would like any other descendants from the Revill family to contact and help me complete the family tree, also if M.Dobbs could contact me as one of his pictures has a Mrs Robinson on which is my side of the family. and would love to see which one it is. On the web-site it refer's to Mr Robinson and Jane Robinson (nee Revill) having 5 children, I think there is more than 5 and would be happy to fill them gaps in for the web-site names etc. I know it refers to William Robinson (Thomas Revill's) Grandson's at the funeral, but before William was born there were 2 other children one being my Nana (Kate Robinson).

I am trying to find more about my familiy's history in this area. My father was Dr Cyril Statham, manager of Waleswood colliery in the 1930's and 40's. My maternal grandfather, Albert E Bramley, to the best of my knowledge owned the pit, selling out to the NCB in 1947. The Bramley family lived in Wallingfield House, close to the pit. My paternal grandfather was Professor Ira CF Statham, professor of mining at Sheffield University.; Any information or leads would be gratefully received. Mick Statham
I have 1930's cine footage of the pit.

I have enjoyed a wonderful time reading some accounts of village life in Treeton and looking at various photographs, all on the Treeton website. I am curious about my great grandparents, William and Sara Ann Cooper who lived at 78 Wood Lane. They had a huge family, the youngest being Reginald, my grandfather, who I think was born in 1901. As so many kind people have contributed photographs and memories I wonder if anyone remembers the Coopers. I believe there were many unmarried sisters who stayed on in the house. The two names I remember were Beatrice and Eveline. I feel sad to think I know nothing about them and have never seen a photograph. Having read many accounts of childhood there it has helped me to picture their lives and I am delighted that this has now been recorded.
It was the youngest child Reginald that I am most curious about. He was born in 1901 and died in 1951 before I was born. Does anyone remember him? He used to go back on his bicycle to see his sisters most weekends so he would have been around until 1950 at least. I think the family were strict Methodists so there may be something remembered through the church. One of the sons, George, was a famous life saver. If anyone fell into deep water he was called upon by the police as he could dive into anything. Another son Tom was an army sergeant who died of pneumonia in Gainsborough hospital on his way to the Great War. And that is all I know.
I do hope that something will turn up.

This isn’t actually a question about the website, I wanted to post a question (unless you know the answer). Does anyone know what the camera type thing is that is up a street light on high hazel road in treeton, and who is responsible for it, it is just opposite Admiral Biggs Drive? Kind regards R.S.

We have come into posession of the death certificate of James John Bamforth who was born in Handsworth Woodhouse. The certificate tallies with a family story. he was killed in December 1867 by a train near 'Pigeon Bridge Colliery'. he was a collier. The inquest was held in Worksop. We believe that the site of the accident is somewhere in the Rother Valley. Family legend has it that he was killed on his wedding day, presumably after finishing his shift and hurrying to meet his bride. A tragic tale! We would very much like to pinpoint the site so that we can visit it and honour his memory. I have already contacted Rother Valley Country Park but they have no knowledge of a likely site.

I have been trying to find information about the old Board School in Catcliff and came upon your website with all the local pictures on it. You are well-versed with the area, so I hope you won't mind me asking your assistance.
I have looked at a map of the area and wondered if the infant and junior school on old school lane might be the one I am looking for?
My husband's Gt. Aunt, taught at the Board School in the late 1890's and early 1900's She had lived at 13 Brinsworth Road, so the close proximity of the school on Old School Lane, made me think it might be that one.
Photos of the school and staff at this period of time would be the icing on the cake!
The lady in question is Alice JOWATT. nee DAVIS. She is recorded on the 1901 census as living with her husband, Edmund and two children, Annie and John, at 13 Brinsworth Road Catlciffe. Occupation :- 'Assistant Mistress Board School' .
Contact us with any information.
